A late jaunt to Quebec made me realize that my closet lacked some real winter apparel. I had coats – tons of them! – but nothing that could stand the constant frigid temperatures of my beloved Canada. So, I went searching for some serious jackets that would keep me warm – and keep me looking fab as well.

Marmot Women’s Up Town Jacket  ($275) – with a unique magnetic closure system, this insulated jacket has my name written all over. I LOVE the yellow, the urban style, the 650 fill down and water shedding MemBran fabric. The hood is removable, and the pockets are lined with velvety micro fleece. Hello warmth!

Lole Frosty Reversible Jacket ($150) – practical and functional, this jacket combines good looks and warmth. 100% reversible and wind and water proof on both sides.

Isis Vesta Parka ($259) – truly urban in design, this parka might just become your new BFF. The down is distributed differently throughout the jacket for different degrees of warmth (more on the body, for example) and the hood has a snap-off faux fur trim for comfort on windy days.

Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Down Jacket ($220) – this super light jacket packs some warmth! The shell is made with EcoSensor, which repels water and moisture, and the quilts keep down from shifting (preventing cold spots).
