My first (ever!) makeup tutorial: eye makeup for dummies (please be gentle!)
So those of you who read the blog often know that I’m not -by any stretch!- a makeup guru. I love makeup and beauty products, but often wear very little makeup and more often than not leave the house with nothing but sunscreen on!
I really think that coupled with my aversion to tons of make up (you know what I mean? Those people you see on the streets and you have no idea of what they actually look like because they have so much stuff on their face?) is also my lack of know-how when it comes to doing things with makeup.
In an attempt to learn more -and thus wear a bit more color on my face! – I decided to try a few different approaches to creating a nice ‘eye look’.
After trying for a few days, I think I got this one down pat. Now, you might be reading this and thinking: “Gee, she needed a couple of days for that?!” but believe me – this was hard. And I have to say for those of you who, like me, shy away from ‘complicated’ looks, this one is fairly easy to do. So here you go – but remember to be gentle!
To create this dazzling makeup look, I used:
- Eyeliner: MAC Greasepaint Stick in Black
- Rose shadow: Laura Geller Pink Cloud
- Brown shimmery shadow: MAC Gilt by Association
- Luminizer: Benefit Highbeam
Now, to the most important question: how did I achieve eye makeup nirvana?
- After applying face primer and foundation (I used Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector and Atmosphere Luminous Foundation) all over my face (duh!), I applied a eyeliner. Starting on the farside of the upper lid, I applied it only to half of the lid. I find that doing so gives my eyes more depth and width.
- Then I applied a little brown shimmery shadow to the bottom half of the upperlid
- and with a small smudge brush, I applied the same shadow to the far half of the lower lid. I don’t like using eyeliner on the lower lid – I always look weird when I do!
- Added a little rose shadow -to soften things up a little- to the crease and blended.
- Used a little luminizer (love luminizers!) right under the brow
- Tada! Eye makeup heaven! (for me, at least!)
To complete the look, I applied a little Black mascara (FiberWig), a little cheek color (Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Green Siren) and a little lipgloss (MAC Dazzleglass in Amorous).
What do you think? Should I quit my day job?

I love the color and the style. Very appropriate for work and a casual look. I reckon you should do more of these
