I have fond memories of CoverGirl products. Growing up, my mother used CoverGirl products almost exclusively. So, of course, I’m always excited about trying out new CoverGirl products. This past week I’ve been using the new CoverGirl ShineBlast lipgloss ($8).

CoverGirl’s ShineBlast lipgloss boasts a “breakthrough ShineSculpt applicator” that is designed to hug the curves of your lips for precise and easy application. I have to admit, I do like the applicator! Unfortunately, the applicator is the only notable thing about this gloss. Despite the many gorgeous color choices available, I found this gloss to be incredibly sheer with a hint of glitter and zero color payoff. Which isn’t all bad. I like that I apply it without a mirror, and it’s prettier and more interesting than a clear gloss.

I wanted to love this gloss, but overall I found it to be average in both wear and shine. I wouldn’t say that it’s long-lasting nor exceptionally shiny. The texture is slightly gritty, which I hate, but it’s not super tacky, which I love. I would recommend CoverGirl ShineBlast if you’re looking for a basic, no frills gloss.
