]]> CND manicured creations are all the buzz this Fashion Week. At Joy Cioci, Candice Manacchio designed “Lucite Lace” manicures using clear tips with hand-detailed lattice work. These see-through nails provided energy and attitude when paired with a fiery orange lip and frantic, whimsical curls.

For Nicole Miller, Wanda Ruiz crafted glam rock checkered manicures using CND Colour in Raspberry parfait and a custom mixed blue comprised of CND Colours in Anchor Blue, Dark Ruby, Eclectic Purple and added blue pigment. Nails were finished with one layer of Ice Blue Shimmer Effect. Create this look at home by doing a vertical sweep of pink down your nail, and do the same with a sweep of blue so each half of the nail is covered with a color. Then go over with each color for the opposite corners. Top all nails with Ice Blue Shimmer for a dazzling finish.

At NAHM, Wanda Ruiz created three unique oval manicure styles to color coordinate with airy white sundresses, plum-punchy prints and burnt orange woven shifts. Cottony-white nails were crafted with two coats of CND Colour in Washed Down White. Faded Creamsicle-orange nails were comprised of CND Colour in Desert Suede topped with Copper Shimmer Effect, and precious ruby nails were done using CND Colour in Dark Ruby finished with Copper Pearl Effect. These luminescent styles complemented twisted unicorn top-knots and shimmery eye make-up.

]]> NARS’ created a cool, dewy look to match bit-by-bit Mandy Coon‘s collection. “This collection is a graduation, of sorts, for me. I was inspired by these rocks and crystals that I’ve loved since I was a child – the texture, the metallics,” said designer Mandy Coon. “There is something so cool, and tough, about them but then the pleats in the collection add a touch of femininity.”

The look here is natural and polished. “It’s girly because of the eye color, but it’s tough since there’s no eyeliner,” said Francelle, NARS National Makeup Artist. “The skin is dewy for a really whimsical, effortless affect. I also took a cue from Mark Rothko’s color-blocking and created a modern version on the eye with purple and pink.”

  2. Apply Kérastase Fibre Architecte (new and coming out end of October) to seal any split/damaged ends and add a styling memory element to the hair
  3. Add Kérastase Mousse Volumeactive for volume and texture
  4. Twist Hair into different pieces, interweaving with black feathers.  Hair is secured by bobby pins
  5. Finish with Kérastase Double Force Hair Spray

]]> Using both new and previously released products, Hourglass Artistic Director Gina Brooke created incredible looks for the Imitation of Christ Spring 2012 runway show on September 8. The theme of the show was a super-chic wedding party and designer Tara Subkoff orchestrated the affair to seem like a lighthearted walk down the aisle. Models wore gossamer silk and lace confections, grooms were in crisp suits, rose petals arrayed the runway and a real-life priest even helmed the occasion. Tying the knot was modeling star, actress and heiress Lydia Hearst—who even threw her bouquet over her shoulder.

To accompany the distinctly romantic and playful mood, Brooke devised a look that showcased flawless skin, vivid eyes and pale lips. “It’s about clean, beautiful and memorable makeup—it is a wedding after all,” says Brooke. “This look is timeless, it’s never going to go out of style.”

Each model was prepped with a new Primer Serum, which treats your skin as it prepares it for makeup. It is a silky, luxurious oil blend that glides on to create a retexturized surface for foundation, hydrates the complexion and triggers a sensory experience with a host of fragrant essential oils. Models with oily complexions were sporting Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation. The advanced new makeup base delivers an exquisitely matte finish that lasts all day—without the need for touchups. In addition, the foundation uses clinical levels of two anti-aging ingredients to visibly improves the skin’s texture and help create a more youthful-looking visage.


GET THE LOOK

SKIN: Start with Primer Serum to create a moisturized canvas for makeup. Follow with Illusion Tinted Moisturizer, or Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation, and apply with No. 2 Foundation brush. Conceal dark circles or blemishes with Hidden Corrective Concealer.

EYES: Apply Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Lagoon (blue), Dune (gold) or Prism (silver) on the lid and blend with fingers. Follow with a subtle application of Script Precision Liner to enhance the lash line. Follow with Film Noir Mascara to define the lashes and finish with a glossy topcoat of Film Noir Lash Lacquer.

CHEEKS: Apply Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Flush to the apples of the cheeks and blend with the fingers. Highlight cheeks with Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Bronze Light.

LIPS: Apply Aura Sheer Lip Stain in Flush to lips.

]]> Lately, everywhere I look I seem to see a Decenarios, the super cute Brazilian bracelet that follows a long tradition of rosary-like accessories. In other words, not only are they cute as all get out, they also promise (or so goes the legend) the realization of 3 wishes when the bracelet falls off!

Each bracelet is carefully hand made with woven cotton tied into a string of 10 knots with a cross-woven at the very end. Unlike other oxfords out there, I love that the folks at Poetic License paired the black leather not with white but with warm brown, creating a look that could definitely be described as “classic with a twist.” The low heel adds charm and ‘walkability.’ Now if only it were not sold out…
