THE LOVER Chocolate Truffles

(Makes approx. 24)

Seduce your loved one this Valentine’s Day with the sensuous pairing of warm tea served with seductively sweet tea-infused chocolate truffles, made with Tracy Stern SALONTEA™ THE LOVER Chocolate Chai tea (shop online at salontea.com). This tea blend is a natural aphrodisiac, not to mention that the art of pouring tea is incredibly sensual! Tea has been a drink of seduction throughout history: many love affairs began over meeting for tea and ended as the greatest love stories of all time. We’re pretty confident that you will love this delicious V Day treat!

Ingredients:           

• 2/3 heavy cream
• 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (cut into pieces and softened)
• 2 tablespoons of THE LOVER tea-chocolate Chai tea leaves
• 6 oz finest bittersweet chocolate, chopped
• 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Recipe:

Combine the cream and butter in a small saucepan and bring to boil. Stir in the tealeaves. Remove from heat and let steep for 3-5 minutes.

Put chocolate in a bowl and strain the cream mixture through a sieve over the chocolate: discard the tealeaves. Whisk the chocolate and cream mixture together until smooth, chill for approx. 2 hours until mixture is firm.

Dust your hands with a bit of cocoa (or cinnamon) then use your hands to roll the chilled chocolate mixture into balls (Tracy likes to use a melon scooper).

Use 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons of chocolate mixture for each truffle. Drop the truffles into the cocoa, turn them until they’re lightly coated, and then place them in an airtight container. Store them in layers separated by wax paper.

Serve in edible rose petals…enjoy!

Skyy pampers her clients with her signature Milk-Me-Away warm milk manicures and pedicures. The warm milk soak is a great way to re-moisturize your hands and feet during dry winter months and the sugar scrub that follows is a great way to remove the extra dead skin. Using a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week during winter months is so crucial to restoring moisture and maintaining healthy hair. “When creating a look for Clémence, I always go for a style that’s effortless yet utterly chic,” says Jacqueline. “The trick to an undone look with staying power is to mix the right cocktails with the right styling products to enhance hair’s natural movement while adding flexible hold.”

1. After lightly misting Clémence’s hair with water, I pumped two quarter-size squeezes of René Furterer VEGETAL SCULPTING GEL and two dime-size portions of Magic Move Light Pomade into the palms of my hands, rubbing my palms together to emulsify the mixture. Then I ran my hands through her hair from roots to ends. The gel and pomade cocktail add long-lasting hold without leaving hair too stiff to move easily.
2. Next, using my blow-dryer and my hands instead of a styling brush, I rough-dried hair in the natural part, twisting some sections and using my fingertips to give hair a little more lift, wave and texture.
3. Taking random sections of hair, including a few pieces around the face, I used my Hot Tools curling irons, alternating between the 3/4-inch iron and the 1 and ¼-inch iron, to curl hair in different directions. About ¾ of hair was left loose—I lightly curled just enough sections to add a bit of movement throughout hair.
4. After letting the sections cool (touching them while still hot will make the curls collapse), I ran my fingers through hair to loosen up curls. Leaving a few pieces to fall freely around the face on either side of the part, I gathered the rest, pulling it to one side and loosely divided it into three sections. I braided hair starting at the base, taking care to be neither too messy nor too perfect. I left about 2-3 inches at the ends free in keeping with the overall organic look of the braid.
5. After securing the braid with a small covered elastic band, I took a small piece of hair from underneath the end of the braid and wrapped it around the elastic, pinning the piece underneath the braid. Again, the key is not to wrap it too neatly—you want the effect to look effortless.
6. Loosening up the braid with my fingertips made it look more asymmetrical. For more suppleness and shine I added a touch of René Furterer STYLING WAX at the end of the braid and on face-framing pieces. Last, an overall misting of L’Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray Normal Strength added shine and flexible hold.

For Nicole Miller, Wanda Ruiz crafted glam rock checkered manicures using CND Colour in Raspberry parfait and a custom mixed blue comprised of CND Colours in Anchor Blue, Dark Ruby, Eclectic Purple and added blue pigment. Nails were finished with one layer of Ice Blue Shimmer Effect. Create this look at home by doing a vertical sweep of pink down your nail, and do the same with a sweep of blue so each half of the nail is covered with a color. Then go over with each color for the opposite corners. Top all nails with Ice Blue Shimmer for a dazzling finish.

At NAHM, Wanda Ruiz created three unique oval manicure styles to color coordinate with airy white sundresses, plum-punchy prints and burnt orange woven shifts. Cottony-white nails were crafted with two coats of CND Colour in Washed Down White. Faded Creamsicle-orange nails were comprised of CND Colour in Desert Suede topped with Copper Shimmer Effect, and precious ruby nails were done using CND Colour in Dark Ruby finished with Copper Pearl Effect. These luminescent styles complemented twisted unicorn top-knots and shimmery eye make-up.
